Defence Ministry is organising a massive plogging programme at more than 400 locations throughout the country today as part of the activities of Swachhta Pakhwada. The aim of this exercise is to raise awareness amongst the community, collect plastic waste and make the surroundings clean.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will flag off the main event from Delhi Cantt today. Community awareness programmes such as nukkadnataks, debates, quizzes, painting competitions among students will also be organised. These events will be conducted towards spreading awareness against ill-effect of plastic on the environment and to give up the use of plastic including carrying bags, plastic cutlery and plastic water bottles.
