PIB establishes a fact-checking unit to combat fake news against government

The Press Information Bureau of India has set up a fact-checking unit to verify news related to the various ministries to combat fake news.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting urged people to email snapshots of any dubious material they come across on any platform including social media and get it verified. 

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has again called for combating fake news and even said that it is more dangerous than paid news. People can send a snapshot or URL of dubious material at [email protected]

News is provided through many different media: word of mouth, printing, postal systems, broadcasting, electronic communication, and also on the testimony of observers and witnesses to events. It is also used as a platform to manufacture opinion for the population.
