Thiruvananthapuram: The Customs has found that 28 parcels were brought to the Centre for Advanced Printing and Training (C-apt) here from the UAE consulate. They were being taken to Edappal in C-apt vehicle without any checking and was led by high officials of the institution.
The parcels were brought to C-apt in two vehicles from the consulate. One of the packets contained copy of a religious text and many brochures. The higher official had instructed to keep other parcels safe, the staff said. The confidential documents of the government are printed at the C-apt. It is for the first time that parcels are being brought here from outside and carried in their vehicle.
There is also mystery in delivering religious text from outside when it is easily available here. The Customs is investigating into this also. The C-apt officials carried the parcels as directed by highlevel authorities. Minister K T Jaleel who landed in controversy after receiving Ramzan kits directly from the UAE consulate, is the chairman of C-apt.
There are allegations that irregularities ocurred in the appointments made at C-apt. A person removed from Kerala Technological University was given a higher position at C-apt and this led to complaints. Soon after the parcel transaction, this person was appointed in the LBS Centre through illegal moves and this also led to further complaints.
