20% of Agricultural University Seats to Be filled through ICAR’s All-India Test

In a major relief in agricultural education, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to fill 20 percent of undergraduate seats in agricultural universities through an all-India competitive examination.

Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research will conduct the exam in line with the spirit of One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team.

The move will allow students who studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Agriculture in Class 12 to secure admission through the CUET-ICAR national entrance exam.

Speaking to the media after the announcement, Mr Chouhan said that with this decision, admissions will become simplified and uniform for students across the country.

The Minister also informed that it will be implemented from the 2025-26 academic year.

This will also remove admission-related complications in getting admitted into B.Sc. Agriculture directly benefits nearly three thousand students.
