15 civilians killed by mine in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, fifteen civilians, including eight children, were killed yesterday when their vehicle hit a land mine planted by the Taliban in northern Kunduz province. Interior ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said six women and a man were also among those killed in the blast.

There are regular clashes between Taliban insurgents and US-backed Afghan forces in the region. The insurgents attacked the provincial capital, also called Kunduz, in September this year, but failed to capture it. They, however, seized the city briefly in September 2015.
