वित्तमंत्री निर्मला सीतारामन ने कहा है कि सरकार अर्थव्यवस्था को और आगे बढ़ाने के लिए ठोस कदम उठा रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि बजट के बाद सरकार द्वारा उठाये गये कदमों के सार्थक परिणाम दिखने लगे हैं। वित्त मंत्री राज्य सभा में देश की अर्थव्यवस्था पर एक अल्पकालीन चर्चा के दौरान उत्तर दे रही थीं। उन्होंने कहा कि देश में अभी किसी भी तरह की मंदी नहीं है।
वित्तमंत्री ने कहा कि देश की अर्थव्यवस्था को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए जीएसटी सुधार, बैंकों की पूंजी में वृद्धि और कई नीति संबंधी फैसले किये गये हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री स्वयं इस विषय पर ध्यान दे रहे हैं, ताकि अर्थव्यवस्था में सुधार लाया जा सके। वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार ने यूपीए सरकार के कामकाज की तुलना में कई आर्थिक मापदण्डों पर अच्छा काम किया है।
इससे पहले चर्चा के दौरान विपक्ष ने सरकार की अर्थव्यवस्था की नीति पर सवाल उठाये और दावा किया कि देश बड़े संकट की ओर आगे बढ़ रहा है।
