Women’s cricket: India beat England by 8 wickets

In Women’s cricket, India defeated England by eight wickets in the second Twenty20 to level the three-match series 1-1 at County Ground, Derby last night. Chasing 143 runs to win, India made 146 runs in 16.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.

For India, Opener Smriti Mandhana made an unbeaten 79 runs and she was supported by Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 29 runs and Shafali Verma’s 20 runs. Smriti Mandhana was named Player of the Match.

Earlier host won the toss and opted to bat first. Batting first, they made 142 for 6 in the stipulated 20 overs. For India, Sneh Rana scalped three wickets while Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma took one wicket each. The first Twenty-20 match was won by England.

The final match in the T20 series will take place at Bristol tomorrow. Both teams will play three ODI matches after the T-20 Series.
