Uttarakhand caps hotel occupancy at 50% in Nainital, Dehradun following large influx of tourists

Uttarakhand government has issued an order capping hotel occupancy at 50 per cent in Nainital and Dehradun. The moves comes after tourists influx increased in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said challans are also being issued to those who are not wearing masks. He said, state government is making all efforts to enforce Covid guidelines.

Tourists have been thronging hills as the heatwave has hit the plains and the second wave of Corona seeing a significant decline in the country. Union Health Ministry on Friday cautioned that the second wave of COVID-19 is not yet over and noted that 66 districts in the country reported more than 10 per cent positivity rate for the week ending July 8.
