Uttar Pradesh gives impetus to mega infrastructure projects

The Central and Uttar Pradesh government are striving to transform the state into the key driver of the county’s economic progress. Currently, the government is giving impetus to various mega infrastructure projects in the state.

Expressways

Four expressways are under construction and work on one of them, i.e Purvanchal expressway is almost complete. Work on two other expressways — 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway and 594-km-long Ganga Expressway is underway.

Uttar Pradesh to have 5 international airports soon

Uttar Pradesh is set to become the state with a maximum of five international airports. The State government is soon going to start international flights from the state’s third airport, Kushinagar airport.

Kushinagar International Airport has been constructed, following the completion of international airports at Lucknow and Varanasi. The Jewar Green Field International Airport in Noida and the International Airport in Ayodhya will both open in the near future. After having 5 international airports, many other employment opportunities will arise giving a boost to the tourism sector in the state.

Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of the project in the year 2018. The Kashi Vishwanath Dham (Corridor) project will bring world-class facilities to pilgrims from across the globe at the prime shrine of Kashi Vishwanath temple site in Varanasi near the banks of the Ganga river.

Ram Mandir

Construction of the grand Ram Mandir is in full swing in Ayodhya and it will not only give a boost to tourism but will generate employment opportunities in the state.

Uttar Pradesh defence Industrial Corridor

India is emerging as a major aerospace and defence sector, with demand expected to exceed USD 250 billion by 2025. Demands of Military aircraft, submarines, helicopters, land systems, weaponry, and sensors are spanning.

During the Union Budget of 2018-19, the government of India announced the establishment of two Defence industrial corridors, one in Uttar Pradesh and the other in Tamil Nadu, with the goal of having more economic opportunities and achieving self-reliance in the aerospace and defence sectors.

Kandla-Gorakhpur Pipeline

The 2,805 km long Kandla-Gorakhpur LPG pipeline project, the longest LPG pipeline in the world conceived so far, (Gujarat – 1,076 km, Madhya Pradesh – 621 km, Uttar Pradesh – 1,108 km) is being implemented through a Joint Venture Company of Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL namely IHB limited.

The pipeline will be built at an investment of Rs. 10,088 crore to get LPG from three LPG import terminals on the western coast at Kandla, Dahej, and Pipavav, as well as two refineries in Koyali and Bina. The pipeline would connect directly to 22 LPG bottling plants, including three in Gujarat, six in Madhya Pradesh, and thirteen in Uttar Pradesh.

AIIMS Raebareli

To have a strong public health infrastructure in the state, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Raebareli was approved at a cost of Rs. 823 crore in February 2009, under Phase-II of Pradhan Mantri Sawasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). A total of 148 acres of land had been agreed upon by the state government. In 2013, a Gazette Notification was issued for the establishment and in July 2013, the Uttar Pradesh government gave 97 acres out of a total of 148 acres to the Central Government for the construction of AIIMS Raebareli. The state government will acquire the remaining 51 acres of land, which is expected to be completed soon.

University at Azamgarh, Aligarh, and Saharanpur

For better higher education, the UP government in its budget for the financial year 2020-21 announced that three new state universities will be set up in Azamgarh, Aligarh and Saharanpur districts.

AYUSH University in Gorakhpur

To boost and preserve the legacy of India’s traditional medicine, the state government decided to set up an AYUSH university.

Tap Water in Every House

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Uttar Pradesh government promised to provide tap water to every rural household. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promised that by 2024, every rural home in the state would have access to a tap water connection.

Smart City Project in 10 Cities

The major goal of the Smart Cities Mission is to promote cities that provide basic infrastructure and give a quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment by applying Smart Solutions. 10 cities of UP have already been selected under the Smart City project.
