US security aid to Pakistan will remain suspended: Report

America’s security assistance to Pakistan will remain suspended till pending of decisive and irreversible action by Islamabad against terrorist groups like the LeT and Al Qaeda operating from its territory.

According to a US Congressional Research Report, CRS, released ahead of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Washington scheduled later this month, the US had suspended all its security assistance to Pakistan in January 2018.

Imran Khan’s visit is the first high-level trip by a Pakistani Prime Minister to the White House during the Trump administration. Pakistan is hopeful that it would help repair its acrimonious relationship with the US.

The report also says that the Trump administration had noted Pakistan’s growing debt to China and expressed opposition to any bailout that would go to reducing such debt.
