Uttar Pradesh police have formed a special investigation team to conduct a probe into the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. After the directions of DGP of state RK Vishwakarma, Prayagraj police commissioner Ramit Sharma has formed the three-member SIT. Satish Chandra Additional CP, crime will head the SIT as chief investigator and Satyendra Prakash Tiwari, ACP Kotwali along with Om Prakash, Inspector, investigation cell, Crime branch will be other members of the team.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already formed the Judicial Commission to probe the murder of the former MP and his brother. Meanwhile, the internet services in Prayagraj will remain suspended for two more days to maintain law and order in the district.
