Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists arrested from Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Two suspects have been arrested in Tamil Nadu on Saturday. They are believed to have links with the Islamic module. The Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) of the state police is questioning them in custody. Police sources posted in Coimbatore said one of the two detained suspects was named as Sadiq. He is a resident of Thrissur in Kerala and works in Chennai.

He was in constant touch with Abdul Khadr in the Gulf. Khadr is believed to be the mastermind of the Islamic Terror module of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. The other name is Zaheer, who hails from Ukkadam in Tamil Nadu. He often spoke to Siddique on the phone. Siddique came to Coimbatore from Kerala. He was detained by SIU officials at the bus stand. Zaheer has been arrested from his house.

The SIU is a wing of the state police which keeps an eye on the Islamic terrorists. Siddique and Zaheer are 30 years old. He has been taken to Karunya Nagar Police Station where the interrogation is going on. Apart from the SIU, Deputy Inspector General of Coimbatore Range G Karthikeyan also joined the interrogation. Sources said that after examining Abdul Khadr’s phone call, intelligence officials found that he was in constant contact with Siddique, who often spoke to Zaheer.
