For every microblogging platform user, the terms and conditions imply that if your Tweets are being provocative in nature and openly qualifies for hate speech, you instantly have the feature to block the specific handle. Twitter as a platform enables this facility.
Recently Donald Trump enacted executive order on preventing online censorship under section 230 for social media platforms. Section 230 protects free speech on the internet without any scrutiny unless it’s anti-national, xenophobic, secessionist and discriminatory. Of late, Twitter has been consistently targeting Right-wing twitter accounts for the only reason, they are against the philosophy of far left and their bias in the platform was preferential.
To add more woes, Twitter inc has explicitly taken away Trump tribute video of George Floyd defining it as a copyright problem. The footage, which contained photos and video of revolt rallies and instances of violence as the result of Floyd’s passing, and having Trump speaking in the backdrop led to removing the content. Sources also cited that Twitter disabled it due to the presence of violence in the tweet.

Twitter account of Amul India, a Gujarati based dairy product company, was deactivated after the picture depicting ‘Boycott Chinese Products’ with the version of ‘Exit the Dragon?’. Amul management expressed their concern about the removal of the account without prior notification and sought their explanation regarding the same. Also, Amul is an internationally reputed brand facing the flak for it’s pro India image. On its part, Twitter INC clarified that the measures were taken exactly for safety and security of the Amul account, and not related to the content publicized.
