To amp up security, several Delhi Metro station gates to remain closed, know the details


Delhi gears up for the upcoming G20 summit, scheduled to be held from September 9 to 10. Ahead of the Summit, security is being tightened to ensure full safety of the G20 delegates. In regards with this, the Delhi Police Metro Unit has recommended the closure of certain metro station gates.

In order to maintain foolproof security arrangements during the G20 Summit, the Delhi Police metro unit has asked the Chief Security Commissioner to close some metro station gates that open towards the VVIPS Route/venue of Summit/Place, from September 8 to 10.

In the letter, DCP Metro G. Ram Gopal Naik mentioned that in 39 stations action needs to be taken while Supreme Court, Janpath, Bhikaji Cama Place, Khan Market and Dhaula Kuan have been marked as ‘Sensitive’ stations. As per the letter, all gates of Delhi Metro will remained closed from September 8 to 10.

Similarly, gates 1, 2 and 3 of Khan market have been asked to be closed, meanwhile, gate number 4 will remain open for entry and exit. Janpath metro station has been marked sensitive and only gate number 2 will be operational during the Summit.

However, metro stations like IGI Airport, Aero city, South Campus, Moolchand, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, Kalkaji Mandir, Chirag Delhi, Panchsheel Park and more will remain completely operational as per the letter.

Delegates from 40 countries, including 20 member states are visiting India to participate in the G20 Summit, scheduled to take place in Delhi beginning September 9.
