Till date Wi-Fi access points installed in one lakh four thousand, 671 Gram Panchayats: Govt

Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan today said that the BharatNet project is being implemented in a phased manner to provide broadband connectivity to all the Gram Panchayats of the country. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the Minister said, till date Wi-Fi access points have been installed in one lakh four thousand, 671 Gram Panchayats. He said, the scope of the BharatNet project has recently been extended up to all inhabited villages beyond Gram Panchayats. Under this project, last-mile connectivity is provided through Fibre to the Home connections, Wi-Fi access points, and internet facilities to government institutions.
