Tamil Nadu passes order for 7.5 % reservation to govt school students in UG medical courses

Tamil Nadu Government has passed an order to provide 7.5 percent reservation for Government school students in undergraduate medical courses. The state Assembly passed a bill unanimously on September 15th for the purpose. However, it is yet to become a law as it awaits the state Governor’s nod.

As the time limit for the Government to conclude the undergraduate medical admission counselling is getting closer, it has preferred the executive order route to implement the horizontal reservation. It will be made applicable for the state quota seats in the government and private medical colleges.
