Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami will launch the Covid 19 vaccination at Madurai tomorrow. The stage is set ready to administer vaccines throughout the State. Covaxin and Covishield vaccines have been stored at the prescribed cold storages and have been sent to the districts.
The State received the first lot of 59 boxes of Covishield vaccine from Pune with each box containing 1200 vials. The vaccines are stored at the State Vaccine store at the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services.
According to Principal health Secretary Dr. Radhakrishnan, the State was allotted five lakh 56 thousand doses of Covid 19 vaccines of which five lakh 36 thousand were Covishield and 20 thousand were Covaxin. Around 2000 vaccine centres were readied in the State with the vaccine to be administered in two doses. Six lakh front line warriors have been identified and pre registered.
