President Ram Nath Kovind has said, construction of toilets across the country under Swachh Bharat Mission has helped in maintaining the dignity of women as well as their empowerment.
Mr Kovind was speaking after presenting awards in various categories for outstanding contribution to Swachh Bharat Mission at a special function in New Delhi. The President described cleanliness as the pathway to success.
On the occasion, Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir received the Best Swachh Iconic Place award.
The Shrine was selected on the basis of the overall improvement in sanitation. Ministry of Railways was given Swachh Award in Swachhta Action Plan category.
