Former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj passed away late Tuesday night after a cardiac arrest. Swaraj was rushed to AIIMS, New Delhi, where she was declared dead. Former External Affairs Minister’s mortal remains were brought to BJP headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg after 12 pm.
Condoling the death of late BJP leader, Delhi and Haryana governments have declared a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to Sushma Swaraj.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav were among those who paid their last respects to former union minister Sushma Swaraj.
Swaraj, who was India’s first full-time woman foreign minister, extended a helping hand to many Indians in distress abroad. She was known as one of the most accessible ministers in the first term of the Narendra Modi government.
