Sushant Singh Rajput case: CBI to grill Rhea Chakraborty for fourth day; ED to probe businessman Gaurav Arya

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput death case will interrogate actress and prime accused Rhea Chakraborty for the fourth day on Monday.

On Sunday, the investigation agency probed Rhea for nine hours reportedly over the medical treatment administered to the late actor and the drug chat that she admitted were genuine. She was also asked about the expenses made by her from Sushant’s accounts. It was also probed why Sushant’s staff was changed and why the actor was kept away from his family. Rhea’s answers reportedly “have not been satisfactory” and she will be expected at the CBI again today.

As per CBI sources, Rhea evaded questions about the medicines given to Sushant and was also not “comfortable” when asked about the problems of Sushant and why she was talking about drugs in her chats. Rhea was questioned for over 10 hours on Friday and seven hours on Saturday.

Her brother Showik Chakraborty was also questioned by the CBI on Sunday for the fourth day in a row.
“Rhea Chakraborty and her brother together reached the DRDO guest house at Kalina in Santacruz, where the probe team is stationed, around 10.30 am,” an official said. They left the guest house around 7 pm, the official said, adding that the central agency has questioned the actress for around 26 hours in three days. 

Businessman and hotelier Gaurav Arya was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate after his name surfaced in the conversation involving the use of drugs. Sushant’s personal staff Neeraj Singh and Dipesh Sawant, flatmate Siddharth Pithani and others have also been questioned by the CBI. 

A day after the Supreme Court gave the nod for a probe by the central agency and was exempted from mandatory quarantine by the BMC, the CBI team had arrived in Mumbai along with the forensic team last Thursday. The team has twice visited the Cooper Hospital, Sushant’s Bandra flat and Waterstone resort. The team has also spoken to and collected all the documents from the Mumbai Police related to the case.

Sushant, 34, was found dead in his flat in suburban Bandra on June 14. The Supreme Court last week upheld the transfer of an FIR, lodged by Sushant’s father in Patna against the Rhea and others for allegedly abetting his son’s suicide and misappropriating his money, to the CBI.
