Kottayam: For Suresh R Potti of Thalayazham Varillath Math, who is the first person from the land of ‘Vaikkathappan’ to be selected as head priest of Pamba temple, this opportunity is a part of his destiny.
Suresh Potti has been given the privilege to light the ‘Makarajyothi’ at Ponnambalamettu on the ‘Makaravilakku’ day in 2021 as well. He has expressed his gratitude to ‘Vaikkathappan’ and Lord Ayyappan through his prayers for this privilege.
There were 36 applications for the post of head priest of the Pamba temple. Suresh R Potti was selected after shortlisting 6 applicants through an interview. He has also served as a priest in Sabarimala temple for a year. Currently, he is serving as a priest in Mahadeva temple in Thalayazham.
He is the son of Raman Potti and Indira Ammal of Varillath Math. Anitha is his wife and the couple has two daughters Bhagyashree and Poornendu.
