Steel companies from across the country, from both the public and private sectors, have stepped up its efforts to meet the nation’s requirement of medical Oxygen. Steel plants supplied 4076 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen to various states and Union Territories yesterday. The Steel Ministry said, in mid-April, on an average one thousand five hundred to one thousand seven hundred tonnes per day was being dispatched.
Steel Authority of India, SAIL one of the largest domestic steel producers, has been enhancing its capabilities to supply Liquid Medical Oxygen, LMO in the country. The daily delivery of LMO from its integrated steel plants situated at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, Rourkela in Odisha, Bokaro in Jharkhand, Durgapur and Burnpur in West Bengal has been increased from five hundred tonnes in the 2nd week of April to more than 1100 tonnes per day currently. The company has so far supplied over 50,000 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen.
