Sri Lanka’s Ruling NPP Takes Lead In Parliamentary Elections

Sri Lanka’s ruling National People’s Power has taken a massive lead in Parliamentary elections. The leftist coalition has secured over 60% of the votes translating to 52 seats out of 71 declared so far. The votes secured by opposition parties Samagi Jana Balawegaya of Sajith Premadasa and New Democratic Front backed by former President Ranil Wickremasinghe have been reduced to 19 and 5 per cent respectively.
