Former Chief Justice of India Justice Rajendr Mal Lodha has said that the sports boards in India should focus on running the sport and avoid taking political calls.
Justice Lodha said that the government has to decide about severing sporting ties with Pakistan. Sports boards have to just run their sports..
Justice Lodha’s opinion comes in the wake of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) that governs the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) saying that the sporting community should isolate Pakistan for supporting terrorists, The CoA quoted the example of South Africa being isolated from all sporting activities due to its apartheid policy.
Justice Lodha has been the head of a committee that the Supreme Court of India had formed to re-structure the BCCI and bring in transparency in its affairs.
The BCCI had also appealed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to sever ties with member countries that support terrorists.
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli said he would agree with whatever decision the Indian government takes regardng the India-Pakistan match in the ICC World Cup Cricket tournament.
