Established in 2001, Soft Seed has been working as a children’s home for 23 years. They started working on Government of India initiatives for Women and Child Safety since 2008.
They have been constantly advocating safety of women and children since the last few years and have been striving endlessly towards providing a better future to deprived and backward women and children in society.
Crimes like rape are undeniably rising at an alarming rate. Unfortunately, in some cases, victims of rape are not accepted in their own society. They are cast away and made to live a life of seclusion away from their families. It mostly happens in remote rural areas but there are cases which have happened in urban areas too.
Soft Seed works for the upliftment of victims of rape and works on making them active members and contributors for society. They have various shelter homes for children and women. Most of them house 10-15 children and women. They take care of their meals three times a day, provide healthcare facilities, education and training facilities for both women and children.
The NGO is located in Nilkamul in the Sonitpur district of Tezpur, Assam. The owner of the NGO is Surendra Kumar Borthakur. Their working committee consists of 11 members.
