Shri Kedarnath and Shri Yamunotri Temples Close for Winter on Bhaiya Dooj

In Uttarakhand, on the occasion of Bhaiya Dooj, the Portals of the world-famous Shri Kedarnath and Shri Yamunotri Dham will be closed for the winter season from today for the devotees. The portals of Shri Kedarnath Temple will be closed at 8:30 a.m. today with Vedic chants and religious rituals. The closing ceremony began at 4 a.m. today. After the portals are closed, the Panchmukhi Utsav idol of Baba Kedar will depart from the shrine for his winter abode at the Omkareshwar Temple located in Ukhimath.

Meanwhile, preparations are also underway in full swing for the closing of the doors of Shri Yamunotri Dham in Uttarkashi. After the portals are closed at 12:30 p.m., the palanquin (doli) carrying the idol of Goddess Yamuna will leave for her winter abode at Kharsali. This year, over 1.745 million devotees visited Shri Kedarnath Dham, and over 6,44,000 devotees visited Shri Yamunotri Dham.
