Severe cold wave conditions continue to sweep Northwest India

Severe cold wave conditions continued to sweep Northwest India. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are in the grip of a severe cold wave. Most parts of North India were covered in a thick blanket of fog today morning, January 9.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast abatement in cold wave conditions in the plains of Northwest India and adjoining Central India from tomorrow due to the approaching western disturbance in Western Himalayan Region.

Director General of IMD Dr. M. Mohapatra said that under the influence of western disturbance, the temperature in Northwest India and adjoining Central India will go up gradually which will provide some relief from the prevailing cold wave conditions.

Talking to AIR News, Senior PRO of Northern Railway, RK Rana said that 29 trains are running late due to fog.
