Second Tejas Express to hit tracks on Jan 17

The second privately operated IRCTC’s premium Tejas train, will ply between Ahmedabad and Mumbai on January 17.

First commercial run of the train will be on January 19. It will ply on Ahmedabad – Mumbai- Ahmedabad route for six days a week with Thursday as an off-day for maintenance, said IRCTC in a statement.

First private operated Tejas Express train running successfully between Delhi-Lucknow route.

The new train will be equipped with all modern on board facilities for ensuring high-level comfort to passengers. Besides, passengers will be served regional delicacies from the local and ethnic cuisines, said the statement.

The IRCTC will compensate each passenger with Rs 100 in case the train is delayed by more than one hour and Rs 250 in case of delay of more than two hours. Besides this, all passengers will be provided with Rail Travel Insurance of up to Rs 25 Lakhs free of cost including Rs 1 lakh cover against robbery during the travel period of passengers.

Indian Railways has identified 150 busy routes to allowing private companies to operate train with latest facilities to passengers. Already several airline companies including Vistara, Indigo and Spice Jet have expressed interest to operate trains.
