Chief Justice of India, Justice Ranjan Gogoi said the rule of law is an important part of the true meaning of democratic system and now it has emerged as the soul of modern democratic nations.
Delivering the 33rd Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Lecture at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, he cautioned that the rule of law need not necessarily be with the policy of the Government and the judicial review becomes the cornerstone of the rule of law.
The Chief Justice also said the police casualties are not less than the casualties of conventional war. He asked all the Probationers at the institute to take necessary steps to exercise their legitimate powers in a fair and reasonable manner.
