Rain fury continues in north and coastal Karnataka with many parts facing flood situation and landslides in Kodagu. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa visited flood and rain ravaged regions of Bagalkote and Gadag today.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said, 100 crore rupees are released to for relief measures in rain affected regions. Meanwhile the Central has released 78 crore rupees out of 200 crore rupees that the state had asked for relief measures.
AIR correspondent reports that Heavy rain continue to batter Kerala, taking the death toll above 30 in the state. State remains in high . Met dept has forecast heavy rainfall for next 24 hours.
The hilly tract of Avalanche in the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu has received a whopping 91.1 centimetre rain in the last twenty four hours till this morning. It is regarded as the highest amount of rainfall, recorded in the state so far.
In Maharashtra, rescue measures are in progress in rural as well as urban areas of the western districts including the worst affected Sangli and Kolhapur. 12 Navy teams joined relief operation in Sangli district where 11 rescue teams of other agencies were already working.
A total of 22 teams are working in Kolhapur. According to officials, till now over two lakh people were evacuated to safer places while total 29 people were killed in the flood.
