Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Batala firecracker factory blast.
An official spokesman said that 19 people were killed and 27 injured in the fire incident and rescue operation is still on.
The spokesman said that ADC (Batala) has been asked to conduct the inquiry into the incident.
The Chief Minister has announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs. 2 lac for the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for the seven severely injured and Rs. 25,000 for those with minor injuries.
The Chief Minister also directed both the Civil and Police administration of district Gurdaspur to extend all possible help to the victims’ families.
