Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Kushinagar International airport on October 20. Kushinagar is the place where Gautam Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana. The city is an important part of Budha circuit and the international airport will prove a game changer in the development of the place.
A Budhist monk from Kushinagar and head priest of Shri Lanka Baudh Vihar said that followers of Budhism across the world are very happy with the opening of this Airport at Kushinagar and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this initiative.
Our correspondent reports that this will be the third international airport in Uttar Pradesh.
The new Kushinagar international Airport is going to play important role in the development of poorvanchal region which is considered as backward region of the state. International air connectivity will made Kushinagar easily accessible for Buddhist pilgrims across the world. People in the city are quite excited about the opening of the airport and believe that it will give boost to the tourism industry here. Avnish Garg, A Hotel owner in Kushinagar told AIR that earlier there were not enough facilities for the tourists but now we hope that facilities will increase and tourists will come here in large numbers.
Kushinagar is one of the important places releted to the Budha circuit and start of international flight will boost tourism which will pave way for employment generation, development of facilities and investment also.
The tourism boost will increase earnings of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, guides and other service providers beside giving international platform and market to the local products like terracotta, kala namak rice, banana fibre products who are being incouraged by state government under it ODOP (One district, one Product) scheme.
