Polling concludes peacefully for assembly elections of Maharashtra and Haryana

Over 60 per cent polling has been recorded in the Assembly Elections in Maharashtra while Haryana has recorded nearly 65 per cent voting till 6 P.M yesterday. The polling was undertaken for 288 seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana. 

Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said that the polling was by and large peaceful and smooth in both the states. Mr Sinha also said voting in Naxal-affected areas was also peaceful. 

Mr Sinha has thanked community radio for creating voter awareness in the two states.

Bye-Elections were also held in two Parliamentary seats and 51 Assembly seats across 17 states today. Mr Sinha said Election Commission team would visit Jharkhand soon to take stock of preparations for Assembly polls in the state.
