Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim are participating in a community programme, Salemat Datang Modi ji, in Kuala Lumpur. Mr Modi reached Malaysia earlier today on a two day visit to the nation. He will hold talks with the Malaysian Prime Minister tomorrow after which several MoUs are likely to be signed.
In Salemat Datang Modi ji event, around 15,000 diaspora population has gathered to listen to PM Modi. Highlighting the role of the Indian community in Malaysia, Prime Minister Modi before leaving for Malaysia had also highlighted that the diaspora serves as a living bridge between the two nations and a strong pillar of their historic friendship.
This is the third official visit of Prime Minister Modi to Malaysia and first since the two sides elevated their ties to Comprehesive Strategic Partnership in 2024. The delegation level talks and one to one bilateral meetings will be held tomorrow where the two sides are also expected to sign a number of memoranda of understanding.
