PM Modi dedicates 35 Oxygen Plants funded by PM CARES to nation

The covid-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges in front of the whole world. But even at the most crucial times, India has risen to the occasion to aid its citizens in order to effectively fight against the pandemic. Various interventions and measures have been taken by the government and among this, India’s medical oxygen generation capacity augmented.

In view of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, i.e 7th October 2021, dedicated 35 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plants established under PM CARES, across 35 States and Union Territories, in an event held at AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. With this, all districts of the country will now have commissioned PSA Oxygen Plants.

Under PM CARES Funds, a cumulative 1,224 PSA Oxygen Plants have been sanctioned all across the country and out of this number, more than 1,100 plants have been commissioned, providing an output of over 1,750 MT oxygen per day. In order to deal with the complexity of hilly, arid areas, islands and territories with difficult terrains, PSA Oxygen Plant Project has been commissioned in each district of the nation.

In his address, he mentioned how East India is the epicenter of oxygen production in India and when the major requirement was witnessed in North & West India, the govt used measures like drones, oxygen rails, Tejas fighter planes & PM CARE Funds to ensure the oxygen requirement is met.

When the second wave of the Covid pandemic hit the nation, the government left no stone unturned in enhancing the oxygen capacity to fight against the challenge. Regarding this, the PM said, “The obstacle of lack of oxygen supply was overcome by the dedication & hard work of our healthcare workers. Earlier we used to produce only 900 MT oxygen, but when the time came, we increased the production by 10 times.”

“Soon the country will be able to get 4,000 oxygen plants from the PM Cares fund, thereby strengthening the healthcare system,” the PM stated while dedicating 35 PSA Oxygen Plants to the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned the milestones that have been achieved by the nation in administering over 93 crore doses. The PM said, “Soon we will cross the 100 crore doses. The CoWIN portal has shown the world how a country of 1.3 billion can smoothly administer vaccines throughout the country.”
