Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated that the Union Government is making all out efforts for the empowerment of each and every citizen of the country, including the poorest of the poor. Noting that women’s empowerment is an important vision of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharati, the Prime Minister said, women are now joining the Armed Forces as officers with the Permanent Commission.
Addressing the International Bharati Festival, organized by the Vanavil Culture Centre in Chennai, via video-conference this evening, he said 15-crore women were disbursed MUDRA loans and they have become economically self-reliant. He said Bharati held both Indian nationalism and Tamil linguistic pride as his two eyes.
He said, Subramanya Bharathi was connected with his roots while looking at the future. Mr Modi said, he emphasised that we need to develop a scientific temper and not live in the past.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy said Bharati stressed national unity and integrity in all his writings and fiery speeches. In the function, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred this year’s Bharati Award to the noted writer Seeni Viswanathan.
AIR Correspondent reports, the International Bharati Festival is being held in honour of the national poet, Mahakavi Subramanya Bharati, whose 138th birth anniversary is being celebrated today.
The recipient of the award Seeni Viswanathan is credited with compiling the voluminous works of Bharati in chronological order. He told AIR News, it is a great honour to receive the award from the Prime Minister, who praised him for his relentless efforts in accomplishing the monumental task through several years of his efforts. Bharati continues to live through his inspiring works even today and will be remembered for long for his farsighted visions and patriotic fervour.
