OnePlus 8 spotted outdoors: New cameras, Thunder Purple gradient colour but looks like OnePlus 7 Pro

The OnePlus 7T series launched barely a few weeks ago but the world of leaks and rumours has already shown us the OnePlus 8 series. Yes, even though OnePlus may take its own sweet time to unveil the OnePlus 8 series in early 2020, high resolution renders and leaks have shown us a lot about the OnePlus 8 series. The early renders have shown a design reminiscent of the OnePlus 7 Pro phones with slight modification. But we have a first glimpse of the actual device in the real world.

The OnePlus 8 has been spotted in China in the wild and it appears to be quite similar to the renders from Onleaks. It looks quite similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro but there are a couple of changes visible to mark the difference between the old and new generation. What remains same to the OnePlus 7 Pro is the overall design with a curved edge display with a glass-metal combo. However, the rest of the stuff changes massively.

At the back, the triple camera array has been reorganized, with the LED flash now sitting in between the lenses. This may hint at a completely new camera system with possibly the new 108-megapixel main camera. The front camera system also seems to be reworked, but this time there’s no pop-up camera system. A dual hole-punch cutout similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is visible that’s position in a slightly off-centre position.

This OnePlus 8 prototype also appears to wear the Thunder Purple gradient colour last seen on the OnePlus 6T. The prototype device also flaunts its 5G network compatibility with a dedicated logo at the back. OnePlus is seriously pushing 5G connectivity in markets across the world but expect India to get the 4G version as 5G network is yet to come to our shores.

While this could be one of the early prototypes, it seems that OnePlus aims to push out its flagship in early 2020 – the same time around when Samsung brings its Galaxy S11 series to the markets. Qualcomm is already said to be unveiling its flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset as early as December 3 and OnePlus could aim to get the early-mover’s advantage with its next-gen OnePlus 8 series phones.
