Bhubaneswar: To provide better training facilities to sportspersons to gear up for international competitions, the ‘Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance Advanced Medical Rehabilitation Centre’ has been inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Kalinga Stadium, this evening.
The state government has partnered with Olympian and international shooter Abhinav Bindra’s ‘Abhinav Bindra Target Performance’ (ABTP) to establish this high-performance training centre (HPTC) in Odisha capital with the aim of providing world-class equipment to Odisha and its neighbouring states, an official of Department of Sports and Youth Services said.
The centre will also offer services such as performance enhancement, injury prevention, and management, bio-mechanics, physiology testing and training, recovery, along with strength and conditioning training. While the state government has provided world-class equipment, ABPT will look after extending technical assistance and skillfulness in fitness science and rehabilitation.
“The inauguration of this high-performance centre will encourage athletes to use ‘Sports Science’ to enhance their performance. Coaching has always been good in Odisha, but now with best available technology, our athletes will have access to a state-of-the-art, world class sports medicine and rehab setup. The better they perform, the more laurels they attain for themselves, the state and the country,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the inauguration.
