Odisha govt restricts festival celebrations in April


Odisha government has put restrictions on the celebrations of festivals in April as a covid-19 containment measure. In a fresh order, government said, public celebrations of upcoming festivals will not be allowed throughout the state.

The state has already put a tab on the public celebrations of Holi, that is round the corner. AIR correspondent reports that festivals in April that will face crowd cuts in April include Jammu Yatra, Dandayatra, Shri Ram Navami, Good Friday and Easter.

Even the Odisha Statehood Day on the first of April this year will be observed with a maximum of 200 participants in each of the functions along with strict adherence to covid-19 protocols.

Meanwhile, even as the state continues to vaccinate people against covid-19, with more than 72 thousand beneficiaries receiving their vaccine doses yesterday alone, the virus too is trying to stage a comeback as evidenced from the spiking number of daily cases over the last couple of days and the swelling caseload of active infections that has further mounted to 1313, as of now.
