Nitin Gadkari virtually lays foundation stones for nine NH projects in Tripura through video conferencing

Union Road and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari virtually laid the foundation stones for nine National Highway projects in Tripura through video conferencing Tuesday morning. 
 
Under today’s awarded highways projects, Rs. 2752 crore will be spent for development of 262 kilometres roads in the state.
 
The Minister also announced that his Ministry will prepare DPR for four more National Highway stretches including 4-lane bypass in Agartala.
 
These projects’ total length will be 365 km with an estimated cost of Rs. 7,520 crore. 
 
Mr Gadkari said that the new projects included 21.4 km Jolaibari – Belonia of NH-108A, which will give a way to smooth communication and trade relations with neighbouring Bangladesh.
 
He said that Manu-Simlung project of NH-44A will create communication with Mizoram and Ambassa-Teliamura project will ease the business of fruits and vegetables among Assam, Mizoram and Tripura.
 
The new projects will provide better connectivity, fast and safe movement of traffic to various tourist places, historical places and religious places in the entire state.
 
He also said that so far 785 km of highways in Tripura are under NHIDCL and Rs. 3,394.29 crore are being spent for ongoing developments.
 
Mr Gadkari requested the State Government to make a vision 2050 for Tripura to all round development, including a multi-modal hub which will ensure prosperity in all sectors in the state.
 
He said, that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to extend any kind of help to the Northeastern States for better future.
 
Apart from today’s projects, eight more projects of 50 km length and costing over Rs. 878 crore are already completed or near completion.
 
The ongoing projects included the construction of 1.88-km long RCC Bridge over river Feni at Sabroom on Indo-Bangladesh Border on NH-08. It will also give impetus to the Act East policy.
 
This bridge will act as connectivity between Tripura and rest of North Eastern states with Bangladesh.
 
DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union MoS of Road Transport and Highways Gen (Retd.) V.K. Singh, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and other State Ministers, MPs and senior officials of both Centre and State Government were present in the function.
