Nashik city to get AC buses in the name of Metro?

Mumbai: Nashik city to have Metro on the lines of Mumbai, Pune. The government has already completed a feasibility study of 31 kms of city roads in Nashik and the work is expected to begin in 2-3 months. However, this is not a Metro rail, but a tyre base metro, which resulted in Nashikars feeling cheated in the name of the Metro.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the guardian minister of Nashik, will soon perform a groundbreaking ceremony of the Metro in the light of upcoming 2019 Assembly election.

After tasting successes in the Lok Sabha election, the BJP government has set eyes on the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha election. Therefore, the state government’s attitude towards fulfilling the commitments is seen.

The features of the tyre-based Metro will run on batteries. Two battery-powered buses will be connected to each other. This service will be operated by using Rapid Transit System. Initially, the Metro will run on two roads.

The Metro route will operate from Sharmik Nagar to Khadkali Signal, Sarda Circle in Satpur, Dwarka Chowk to Nashik Road will be one way. There will be a main junction on this route in Amrit Garden Chowk on Satpur Road. The other way is to be from Mumbai, CBS Ashok Colony to Gangapur Village.

Both the routes will be interconnected at Loop Bardan Phata and Sharmik Nagar. There will be 29 stops. The two ways have been selected according to the PHPDT meaning ‘passenger on my direction transportation’.

The Metro is being inaugurated through the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation. The Opposition has criticised it claiming Nashikar are getting a bus service in the name of Metro. About 400 buses will soon be purchased by Nashik Municipal Corporation transport service. It is claimed AC buses will be used for Metro.
