Thiruvananthapuram: A running car caught fire near Plamoodu in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday by 9.30 pm. Tirunelveli natives Anthony and his friend Murugan were in the car when the accident happened.

Anthony stepped out of the car after he was warned by the locals about the smoke coming out of the vehicle. The vehicle caught fire immediately after this. Two units of Fire and Rescue Service Personnel arrived at the spot and doused the fire.

The fire and rescue personnel had to spend more than 30 minutes to get the situation under control. Anthony, a scrap dealer by profession, was going to Vamanapuram when the accident happened.

It is evaluated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the car’s battery. The car belongs to Madurai native Sivaprasad.
