The dream of Maharashtra government is to ease up travelling of commuters by building Metro lines across Mumbai. On Sunday, the Mumbai Metropolitian Region Development Authority (MMRDA) began laying tracks on the elevated corridor of Metro 7 line (Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E)).
According to Indian Express, the MMRDA has said that civil work of two Metro lines 7 and 2A will be completed by this November. A senior MMRDA official told the leading daily, “Head Hardened HH1080 grade rails imported from Japan were transported from Wadala yard using 70-ft trailer to site. Thereafter, using 50-ton mobile, crane, the rail bundles were lifted and unloaded in the viaduct. The Metro team was able to accomplish the task within the stipulated time.”
