BMC is Friday announced is all set to begin the construction of the Twin Tunnel under Goregaon-Mulund Link Road.The GMLR will connect Mumbai’s western and eastern suburbs with six-lane twin tunnels which run under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
The actual work for the tunnel will kick off in October 2023 and it will be built in 4.5 years. The project has been awarded to Mumbai-based J Kumar Infra Projects Limited and Hyderabad-based NCC Limited.
The overall length of the road connecting Goregaon in the western suburbs with Mulund in the eastern suburbs will be around 12.2 km, while the tunnels will be 4.7 km long.The road project is being divided into four phases.
