More relaxations in COVID restrictions to come into effect in Kerala from Thursday

In Kerala, with a consistent decline in COVID cases, State govt informs that more relaxations in COVID will come into effect from Thursday.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that, the revised COVID guidelines will come into effect from day after tomorrow. He added that the government targets to bring down the Test Positivity Rate below 5 per cent. The state intends to reopen colleges at the earliest. The regular classes for medical students will resume from July 1st onwards.

Mr Vijayan said that as a third wave of COVID infection is expected soon, public needs to be extra cautious and to strictly abide to existing guidelines to prevent further spread. Meanwhile 12,617 new COVID cases were confirmed in the State today. Three cases of the genetically mutated Delta Virus strain was also confirmed. Number of reported due to COVID were 141. Presently, over one lakh active COVID cases are there in Kerala.
