Meow Park’ in the Turkish coastal town of Mersin provides a safe haven for local stray cats. Homeless felines can find food, shelter and safety at the facility as well as the company of other cats.
Mersin’s Mayor, Burhanettin Kocamaz, was reported in local media as saying gates and fences keep out unwanted visitors, giving the cats a safe place to put up their paws. Video surveillance is also provided adding an extra layer of security.
Volunteers also provide treatment for wounded and sick cats; while the felines are fed on provisions donated by local residents.
