Madhya Pradesh: 32 dead as bus falls into canal in Sidhi

In Madhya Pradesh, at least thirty people were killed when a bus carrying around 54 passengers fell into a canal in Sidhi. 7 people have been rescued so far by SDRF and divers and search is underway for the rest of the passengers.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an ex gratia payment of Rupee Five lakhs each to the next of kin of the deceased. Mr. Chouhan has spoken to the District Collector and deputed two state ministers to reach the spot at Sidhi for monitoring the rescue operation.

The bus was going from Sidhi to Satna when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into the water body. Meanwhile the state level Grihapravesham Programme scheduled for today has been postponed due to the tragedy.
