The European Union is “completely on the same page” with the US on the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the EU High Representative of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said at a press conference in Luxembourg on Monday.
Mogherini said there was agreement amongst the 28 member states on the need for transparency and added they “expect full clarity from investigations to be done by the Saudi authorities.”
Khashoggi went to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 to prepare documents for his upcoming marriage but has not been seen since. Turkish officials claim that they have evidence of his murder, this allegation is denied by the Saudi Arabian government.
