Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today expressed concern over planned disruptions and decreasing participation of members and decreasing number of sittings in the Parliament and State Legislatures.
Addressing the gathering at the orientation program for newly elected members of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council in New Delhi, Mr. Birla added that planned disruption of house proceedings is not good for parliamentary democracy.
He further praised the functioning of Maharashtra Legislatures for good productivity and underlined the importance of efficiency in the functioning of parliamentary committees and skilling in legislative drafting. The Lok Sabha Speaker also led the gathering in reading the preamble of the constitution.
