New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health informed that all the districts in the country will be classified into hotspots, non-hostspots and green zones in the backdrop of the COVID-19 outbreak. 12 districts in Kerala are included in the hotspot and non-hotspot categories.
The districts where more number of COVID positive patients are present will be categorised as hotspot. Six districts in Kerala will be included in the hotspot category. Kasaragod, Kannur, Malappuram, Ernakualam, Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts and some regions in Wayanad district are counted as hotspots.
Non-hotspot districts are the ones where less number of people are confirmed with coronavirus. In Kerala, six districts including Thrissur, Kollam, Idukki, Palakkad, Alappuzha and Kottayam come under non-hotspot category. Kozhikode is not included in both categories.
Green zones are the districts where no COVID cases are reported so far. All six metro cities in the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are hotspots. The ministry has asked the states to set up COVID hospitals and to trace the contacts of COVID patients.
